Mercenary’s are the DPS and healers for the Bounty Hunter class. They are extremely good at both.  So pick this as your path if you want to DPS, Heal or PvP.

+Accuracy (up to 108%)
+Crit Chance (up to approximately 30%)
+Surge (up to approximately 80%)
+Tech Power/Power


If the best defense is a good offense, the Mercenary’s got the most intimidating defense in the galaxy; heavily modified blasters and deadly heat-seeking missiles make the Mercenary a mobile heavy weapons platform. There’s o problem extra firepower can’t solve, and no one with the sense gets between a Mercenary and his or her target.

All Mercenaries learn how to fire two blasters at once, and can opt to learn the skills of a bodyguard, using a state-of-the-art medical technologies to heal and protect allies; acquire an Arsenal of advanced rockets to rapidly deal damage; and access Advanced Prototypes including fiery missiles and darts to reduce an enemy’s survivability and regenerative capacity.

Mercenary Skill Trees

The two Mercenary skill trees are Arsenal and Bodyguard. The shared Mercenary and Powertech skill tree is Firebug.


– Uses advanced rocketry and specializes in taking down their targets quickly.

Arsenal is the DPS tree for bounty hunters. It will open-up tracer missile which allows you to spam two missiles during PvP and just destroy your enmy.


– Gives the Bounty Hunter skills and technology to heal and restore his allies.

This is the healing tree. I haven’t seen many healing bounty hunters, but it is an option if you so chose. The nice part about playing a Merc is that you get a few healing abilities without having to spec into it. So it has been nice to be able to run some flashpoints and be able to spam some heals when needed.


– Upgrades the Bounty Hunter’s weapons to deal more damage his enemies.

This is a fun tree to play with. It hasn’t been something I could see myself staying with until L50, but it was fun playing with the different DOTs. This is a higher sustained DPS then Arsenal, but not as effective in PvP to the constant moving you have to do.


Mercenary does a ton of AE damage as well as burst DPS.  You need to really consider what type of damage you are going to do during which battle to make sure that you are managing your heat properly.  Burst DPS is great for a short period of time, once you max it out, you are out of luck.  You want to focus on not letting it get above 50-60 unless it is really needed.  The higher your heat goes, the slower it is at dispersing it.  If you are doing PvP, you want to do tracer missiles until they are half dead or continue with tracer if they are not attacking you.  Rotate in your rapid shot after every few missiles, unloads or tracer missile and you will be fine.
